The Bedroom

One day, when Inaya was strolling in her garden taking care of her plants all of a sudden she saw a man nearly her age gazing at her from far away. At first, she ignored him but her attention was diverted when she saw him slowly coming toward her. A closer look at him made her jump with joy. It was her old friend Dhruv whom she had met after a long time. She was surprised to see him and was inquisitive to know how come he was here at her place after so many years. She hugged him tightly and asked him to come inside, but Dhruv stood there with a long face and tears in his eyes. Inaya asked him, what's the matter, Dhruv? Is there any problem? How come after so many years all of a sudden he came to meet her? Dhruv said, my dear friend, I will give answers to all of your questions but at present, I want your help, that is the reason I am here. What sort of help, Inaya asked.

Seven years back he was married to the person he loved but to his sheer bad luck, she died due to a massive heart attack just a month after their marriage. He was so distorted that he left the house locked and shifted to the hotel he owned. Though he is a very rich man but is completely shattered from the inside.  From the day his wife died and he locked that house he had not gone there. The thought of visiting that house brings back the old memories of spending some lovely days with his wife there. Caretakers stay there. He prefers staying in his hotel. Mentally he is still in a mess and the thought of going to that house disturbs him. He is unable to move on in life.

The reason for coming to meet Inaya was related to his past tragedy. After 7 years of that incident, he realized that some precious letters and other documents are kept in the bedroom where his wife had taken her last breath. He could have easily brought those papers all by himself but as it has been a tough journey for him so revisiting that place would have worsened his mental health. That is the reason he wanted Inaya to go there and bring the stuff kept on a table inside the bedroom where his wife expired.

Inaya thought that she should help her friend. It was just a question of bringing the stuff from that room. The bungalow was not very far away from her residence. She does not want her friend to go through the painful memories again. She agreed to help him. Dhruv gave her a letter and asked her to give it to the gardener of the bungalow. The next morning Inaya started her journey. She reached there in an hour. As instructed she gave the letter to the gardener and after reading it he opened the door for her and gave her the keys to the mentioned room. The gardener said that after the death of his mistress, Inaya would be the first person to unlock that room. After taking the keys she headed towards the room. It was a huge bungalow and it took a lot of time for her to reach the room.

Finally, she unlocked the door and entered. The room was pitch black and had a very suffocating environment. Things were scattered and a rotten and damp smell was all over. She felt a little pukish. It was hard for her to see things but after a few minutes, she had blurred vision of the place. She tried hard to open the window panel so that some light enters but was badly hit by something hard. Due to the darkness, she couldn't make out what it was. She failed to open the window.

Her eyes were searching for the bundle of papers. After rotating her eyes all over the room she saw three piles of papers kept on a table mentioned by Dhruv. Hurriedly she moved towards the pile to pick them up and move out of that spooky room. The moment she picked a pile she saw someone standing behind her. Her heart suddenly started beating heavily. That somebody was standing there behind her? Is it a person or a thing? She was scared. She wanted to check who it was. Slowly she moved her eyeballs toward that shadow. To her shock, she saw a tall lady standing there wearing a white gown with very long hair. Due to the darkness, her face was not visible properly but her long hair was blowing. There were no traces of wind then how come that lady's hair was blowing in the air?

Inaya was extremely scared. Her hands were trembling and her voice was choked. Oh my god, who is she? Due to the darkness, she was unable to see her face but she could make out with her blurry vision that she was a beautiful lady. Her locks were opened and that scary ghostly entity was coming towards her. Now she was extremely terrified. Her body was shaking with fear. It was becoming difficult for her to move her body.

She gathered courage and dragged herself towards the table. Hurriedly she picked up the papers and, estimating the exit she ran at full speed outside the room. She came out of the bungalow. handed over the keys back to Gardner and without uttering a word rushed back home. After returning home she was trying to analyze things. She was confused. Whatever she saw, was it real or a dream? She drank water and sat on the sofa. After some time she was extremely scared to see a bunch of hairs wrapped around the button of her dress. Now there was no doubt left in her mind. Yes, it was not a dream. The bunch of hairs was hers. She stood there. Who was she? Maybe she was the ghost of Dhruv's wife.

Anna was excessively frightened. She had a high fever. Her condition was not allowing her to go and give the piles to Dhruv personally. So Inaya sends one of the housemaids to his hotel. The hotel staff took the bundle informing the housekeeper that from morning Dhruv had gone somewhere. When he will return the staff will give him the stuff. The maid returned. She was having a sleepless night. The moment she closed her eyes visions of that lady made her horrified. She was unable to sleep. It took nearly a month for her health to get stable.
After a month Inaya went to the hotel to meet Dhruv and get the answers to so many questions troubling her for many days, but to her shock, the hotel staff informed her that Dhruv had not returned yet. Inaya was unable to solve the mystery of Dhruv's disappearance and she had no plans of revisiting that house one more time.
